Things to do in Michiana

What do you like or dislike about the Michiana area?  Do you feel there are alot of family-friendly things to do in town?  What are your favorite things to do with your family here?

In the summer, my son enjoys to go to Notre Dame and ride his bike on the sidewalks.  The campus is pretty empty during the summer, so he thinks he's really big stuff riding his bike all over the place.  Winters are a bit more lame, of course because it's cold outside.  We went to a couple movies at the dollar theater in Mishawaka over the summer, and he seemed to enjoy it, so I bet we will do that more often this winter.  We spend alot of time mulling around Target, Kohl's and Meijer...just to get out of the house and walk around.  We've tried the kids area in the mall...I don't think we will do that anymore.  Seems like every time we try, there are kids that are WAY too old to be there running all over the place.  Last time, there were about 6 kids that came in and took over the play area...parents no where to be found.  We've found people abuse it, so we don't go often.  We would love a play place in the area for kids to go and run...something with proper supervision!
