Does everyone understand there is a huge difference between your child's maturity and intelligence? I wanted to beat my daughter to death on saturday and realized she isn't as mature as she is intelligent. Then the rest of the day I cried about my own ignorance and wanting to beat her senseless. And it always seems (much later) it's over nothing. What is wrong with me? Lynn

Maturity levels
And to add to it, every child matures at a different rate... it is so hard with the youngest child because in my mind there is always the thought that my oldest was beyond this behavior by now etc. Of course my youngest has always been drastically different behaviorwise anyway. The intelligience and maturity difference scares me though, because it will be that way for a looong time. I have already said many times to my husband the teen years will be bad with my youngest.
my three year old
I'm glad you posted this...my three year old is so smart so I expect a lot out of her. Now it's hit me that she isn't at the maturity level that her intelligence is at. I feel so much better about not disciplining her for some of the stuff she does now...
it happens
I see you're still waiting for your owner's manual too? :)
Well, with all the little brainiacs running around these days, it happens to the best of us...losing sight of actual age and maturity levels on one or more occasions. Lucky for us, kids have the wonderful ability to constantly remind us that they actually are ONLY 2, 3, 5 or 8...therefore, allowing us to get in check, even if we had to cry about it after the fact...
If we don't make mistakes, we don't learn, right?!?!
I agree
Since I had my second I have found my self thinking my 5 year is more mature then he is. Like last night my husband got off work late and I was cooking dinner and my daughter wanted to be held so I took a small pan lid and let her play with that so I could finish cooking and my son came in and ask her a lid and I said you dont need to play with that. He said fine and started playing with his cars and then I thought he just wants to make some music on the floor like his sister so I got out another one for him and had to apologize. He was so excited and the two of them just made really loud music on the floor. I have to keep telling myself he is only 5.
When you guys get a your manuals could you make a copy for me to because mine must have gotten lost in hte mail.
