I have three. One is a wrap around my ankle and it represents my native american heritage. One on my calf I designed it's a rubber ducky (I used to collect them) and it has bubbles around it and there's a letter in each one spelling out Rebekka. The third one is her foot prints from her birth cert on my right shoulder so I can always be reminded of where we started and not to lose hope. If they don't have a meaning I think it's crazy. i watche my best friend get four of them laser removed that he got in Germany while in the army. They were stupid ones and it was a very painful process to get them removed.

I personally dont care for them. My husband has three, two of his I dont mind (i think they are stupid but I dont mind them) but one I HATE. I dont have any and dont think I ever will.
The one that my husband has that I dont like is chinese letters down his forearm, I am not going to fo to into what it means. All his old friends went and got one after a long night at the bar. He even hates it now. He wants to get it removed. He said next year he was going to look into getting it removed. He has to wear business clothes to work so he can never wear a short sleeve shirt because it would show. I know he really hates it, he wont even wear a short sleeve shirt when we go out to dinner or someplace nice. It shows how kids make stupid decisions sometimes.
My son hasnt asked about it yet. The neighbors has 11 and 14 and he explained to them how it was the worse mistake and what he has to do to get it off...hopefully it turns them off from wanting one.

Something small in a hide away place is ok. I actually would like to get a small one one my lower back, close to my bum I think. Something small and pretty. I don't like to see a ton of "art" all over someone it is really not nice looking when you dress up for a awards dinner or wedding or something like that.
On a word of caution for women especially, it was on the news the other night that some doctors are not willing to give a epidural(sp? sorry) if there is especially a fresher tattoo on the back near what would be the space needed for a labor epidural. The chances of a infection and damage that could occur is pretty great I guess. You wouldn't want to have a needle going into your spinal space that has to go through a bunch of ink.
also if you shrink the tattoo shrinks too. Like on your breast and over time you loose some breast matter due to age and gravity, the tattoo that was once pretty is no longer.

I also saw that about tatoos and epidurals! I was a little surprised because I have a small flower tatoo on my lower back, and it was never an issue, not even mentioned, when I had both my epidurals. But I got to thinking, do they normally give you an epidural in your lower back? I had both of mine in the middle of my back, could that be why?

I love them. I have 4 and plan to get more. They all have a meaning to me. 2 of them I designed myself. The other 2 I helped with. I have 1 on my left shoulder. 1 on my lower back. The 1 on the lower back is known as a "stripper tattoo". I get the biggest kick out of that! I have 1 on each of my hips. My son doen't think anything about them. The only thing that I asked of him was to wait until he is 25 to get any. But, he will make his own decisions I realize that. I waited until I was 25 because I didn't want to get anything that I would regret later on. When you're young and naive, you tend to live in the moment !!
If they have a personal meaning... yes!

Tattoos
I have one tattoo a Kanji sign on my wrist that stands for crazy it's kinda ghetto if My daughter asks I will tell her.
Not big on them
I don't really care much for tattoos. It's fine if people want to get them(within limits), but I wouldn't ever get one.
