Ok, all you scrapbookers...Are you the old-school, pick out your paper/stickers and journal kind or the modern digital scrapbooker? I've been wanting to get into this hobby for years now, but with the expense that comes along with it, I just haven't. I've got most of my photos organized (pre/post-digital), for my 3 kids, I'm now just trying to decide which path to take. Any advice??

Thanks!

old school

I started scrapbooking when my son was born and I got really good at it. But with a second child now I can't seem to find the time. I went to staples and got some software for my computer it was called something dvd. and you can make slideshows with your pictures and add captions and music. I played around with one day and it looks pretty neat and then you burn copies for family. If I remember right it was around $50. I havent had time to mess around with it besides the one day I put it on the computer but I just put my pictures on my computer and they are all organized for when I am ready or have time. You might want to try that.

Old School

Even though I havent done a scrapbook for quite a while. I've always done the path the old school way. I still buy some stuff when I see good deals. The dollar stores have some nice scrapbook stuff and I've also seen a pretty decent section at Big Lots and Target's dollar section. About a month ago Target had scrapbooks on clearance for $3.00! And I keep an eye out for the sales at Hobby Lobby and Michaels and try to stock up when I see the sales/clearance. I love Pages in Time, they had the cutest stuff but you can go so broke in there! :)
I am thinking for Christmas presents I might make my parents one of the new digital photo books.
I know most of my most recent pics are all stored on the computer so a digital scrapbook might be easier. But in the past I've done more of a memory book as gifts and they were actual pictures from the years.

Both

I'm a diehard so I do both. Try what you like. If time is your enemy do digital first. They are fast, convienent and very easy. I use shutterfly-load and go! I look at the money as an investment. I'm investing in my family's memories. I do "something" every week even if it's just sort. Sometimes I get multiple pages done in a day. So, I say do which ever makes you happiest. I'm sticker crazy. I love them. They're like earrings or socks- you need different ones for every event! Go get'em scrapper. Lynn

Digital & Traditional

For speed, ease, and value, I use Creative Memories products.

I absolutely adore their Storybook Creator Plus for digital scrap booking. You can also make cards, calendars and more with it!

They've recently revamped their entire line of traditional scrap booking products, so you can complete an entire album with one kit (it comes with paper, stickers, everything)--and I always have extra stuff left over, too! With those kits, everything is already color coordinated. I no longer have to spend hours at the local stores trying to match stuff. It’s great!

Here’s a link to the consultant I work with, she’s great and not pushy. You can buy what you want and she doesn’t call and bug you. You, also, can just buy from her website—no shows or parties necessary! http://www.mycmsite.com/sites/cmgillen

Do you have to pay for the

Do you have to pay for the StoryBook Creator to make a photo book or is it a free download and then you just pay for the book?
I'm wanting to make a digital photo book and I've been playing around with Snapfish, Shutterfly, My Publisher and I havent been too impressed with any of them...I did like the idea of Snapfish because I could pick up right in the store. And I liked Shutterfly but I got frustrated because it kept choosing the designs for me and I wanted to pick out my own backrounds...I guess I was just getting picky and frustrated because my computer was going so slooow that it took more than 3 hours to upload my pictures :(
