We are planning on taking a trip to Michigan next summer. We're looking to maybe rent a cabin, would love to be on a lake, but not necessarily Lake Michigan. We'd love to be able to go swimming, maybe rent a boat, hiking etc. I figure we need to get things booked sooner rather than later. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hiya Brittany,
I grew up on Lake Michigan and we would always go to Ludington for the summer. Great place. Grand Haven is also a great place and depending on when you are going there is usually something going on. They have the Coast Guard festival last week in July and first of August. And there are some kinda quiet beaches and parks there to visit. Well hope this helps : )

I have always been a fan of Northern Michigan. Traverse City, Petoskey and Harbor Springs are great, but I don't know how much it is to rent places up there. My family also has places in Canadian Lakes which is just east of Big Rapids. There are a bunch of lakes and I know there are decent condos and cottages to rent. We are always up there during the 4th of July weekend and it's crazy busy. I would suggest going some other time than during the busy holidays.
