Description
My grandmother was not a good cook! But the one thing she made great was her homemade chocolate cake!
Ingredients
- 1 c sugar
- 4 T cocoa
- 2 t baking soda
- 2 c flour (unsifted)
- 1 c cold water
- 1 c mayonnaise
- 1 t pure vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Grease and flour a cake pan.
3. Combine all ingredients.
4. Mix well.
5. Pour batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
6. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Notes
For a different type of topping:
Whipped Cream:
1 cup (236 ml) heavy whipping cream that is ultra pasteurized
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 tablespoon (14 grams) granulated white sugar
Chocolate Whipped Cream:
To the above add
1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder (I use Dutch-processed) plus an additional 1 1/2 tablespoons (20 grams) granulated white sugar
