I just find those ideas on line for some "fun" (maybe depending of your neigborwood!)
Halloween: Bring the fire pit from the backyard to the front drive and invite your neighbors to sit with you while the little trick-or-treaters come around. This saves the kids lots of walking and you get to enjoy good company.

Try this system for neighborhood entertaining:
every house has a plastic flamingo and when they want to have people over they place the flamingo in their front yard that morning, as a signal to neighbors to stop by.
