Digital Cameras?
I am on the hunt for a new digital camera. I currently have a Sony Cybershot but I am not happy with it, I've had it a little over a year and the zoom has completely went out on it. If I'm going to spend a lot of money I want something that is going to last...Anyways, I am looking to see if anyone has a good digital camera they can recommend?? I would like to have something with a powerful zoom. I'm going to see Carrie Underwood in a few weeks and then a few weeks after that we are going to start going to Michigan football games and my boyfriend would love to have a good zoom to take some good pictures. I also didnt know if any of you had video cameras with the still shots, how good the quality of the pictures turn out on those? I've been keeping an eye out on the ads and trying to read some reviews online but I know how good everyone is on here so I thought I'd come here to seek advice :)

Kodak
I've been happy with my Kodak Easy Share, but it's considered ancient... I've had mine for 4 years now, haven't had any problems, but I've been thinking about an upgrade too. I do like the simplicity of operating the Easy Share, and I like how the newer versions are smaller in size, with more powerful zoom, etc.
Kodak
I have the older larger and the newer smaller kodak easyshares and I haven't had any probs with them.

Nikon
We used to have a Nikon and LOVED it! It was easy to use and took awesome pictures. It was 4 years old, we'd dropped it, the battery latch broke and it was just time to update it anyway. We got a Sony, and it is just ok. Still pretty easy to use, but you have to hold really still, otherwise you get blurry pictures. There are also an awful lot of settings and features I would never use, or even know what they were for.
As for the Kodak, we do have an EasyShare, and it is a decent camera if you want something inexpensive. Really easy to use, good quality pics, and pretty reasonably priced. But if you are looking to spend a little more, I would go with a Nikon.

I agree . . .
I also have an easy share and it has been great for the last few years. It takes decent pictures and is great for vacations. But, if you want something a little more expensive with really great zoom, I have a friend who really likes her Nikon. My dad also loves his sony (and he takes AWESOME close-ups with it) but he got a really expensive one. If you want to know which sony he got, I can let you know.

point and shoot ? or slr ?
Are you looking for a point and shoot or a slr ? The slr digitals by Nikon are fabioulous. There is a nikon you can find at most retail stores now in the slr catagory. It is a nikon D40 and gives a common person with more than enough options for taking pictures. The storage, battery life options that are on the camera are great. They average around 500 bucks. Many, many options great photos. You can naturally go into a higher costing nikon but the d40 gives the average family photographer great things to work with.
I can't help with a point and shoot. sorry. There are many good options out there though. Look at your storage capibilities, the zoom--optical zoom is 1000 times better than a digital zoom. The mega pixals--you can get some good quality pictures with the point and shoots with todays options-the higher the mega pixal the better the quality. And user friendly options.
Good luck
