So I was thinkin me, my 2 and a half y/o, and the husband would go on a mini roadtrip tomorrow to Michigan or Southern IN hit up a beach or a state park or something. Anyone been somewhere they would recommend for us, keep in mind if there is a lot of walking involved it would have to be stroller friendly. Just wanna get away with the fam for a bit would make it an all weekend thing but have plans Sunday early so I'm thinkin we would leave Saturday morning and be gone all day. We've done the Dunes and St. Joe and I also feel we've gotten our fill of waterparks, fairs, and zoos for the summer. Maybe Ann Arbor I don't know, any suggestions would be great.

Ann Arbor

My boyfriend is a huge Michigan fan so we visited Ann Arbor last winter. I loved that town! The downtown area was really neat, it reminded me of a "mini chicago". Lots of unique shops and places to eat. There was also a little area with shops right by campus that was really neat. If you're a Michigan fan, there is a Steve and Barry's there that everything in the store is Michigan, it was two stories and had TONS of stuff!! The mall there is really nice too with lots of little shops outside of the mall.
My cousin went to South Haven Michigan and really liked that town and said they had a bunch of cute little shops and resturants and its right on the beach.
It's supposed to be a beautiful weekend, have fun whatever you do! :)

Indianapolis

Indy is only 3.5 hr drive away and has lots of options. Lafayette square on the south side has an antiquated building that has restaurant, cafe and duck bowling alley. The zoo is wonderful and has newly opened exhibits and monument circle alone is worth walking around and watching the cars drive around. We love Indy. It's clean and safe. Brown County state park is also nice, horses a pool and hicking trails or the shops at Nashville. Very very friendlyLynn

I second Indy

Lynn and I must be on the same thought train today because my first thought was Indy, then Brown County State Park popped in my head :)  Tons to do in Indy, and if you've never been to Brown County it is great!  Like Lynn said, they have stables and you can go horse back riding, swimming pool, etc.  Good times.

Hey, check out the visit Indiana banner on our home page (top right...you may have to refresh a couple time to get it since ads rotate there), but you may find something there to do on their website.  Have a fun weekend, and let us know what you decided to do!

Potato Creek

Also, Potato Creek is in North Liberty!  It's no Brown County, but they do have a beach on the lake, fishing, lots of picnic areas and playgrounds, hiking/bike trails.  If you like the idea of a State Park, this one is an option closer to home :)

Kzoo

Kalamazoo is always a fun place to go. There are a lot of different things to do in the area including the Air Zoo and Celery Flatts (a park with a lot of different walking paths in Portage). South Haven is a lot of fun too. You can spend some time on the beach, enjoy the shops and have lunch somewhere good.

Inn

We stayed at that Inn when I was a kid, and it was really nice then.  How cool!  We may have to take our kids there sometime soon....the water park looks nice, but not so huge and overwhelming for smaller kids.  Has anyone been yet?
