Christmas presents for a 5 year old
My son is 5 and I honestly have no idea what to get him for Christmas. He has a ton of toys already. He has a thomas train track, v smile, smart cycle, ton of board games, crafts, action figures, transformers, movies, play doh, paints, books, different kinds of car, differnt dinos (ones that moves ones that dont), hot wheel sets, car tracks that crash, linclon logs, legos, WWE wrestles, wwe ring for the wrestles....the list just keeps going and going. So my husband says the things I am picking out for him arent 'cool'. I just dont know what to get a 5 years that in my opinion has everything. Oh he is going the lego sets that make different things. I know he will be getting that, but thats the only thing I had for him on my list that my husband says is 'cool'. My husband wants to get him the WALLE robote. He got the dino robote last year and never played with it. We are getting a WII for a family christmas present. Any ideas would be great!

Dinosaur Excavation Kit . . .
My son is almost 7 and a couple of years ago I got him a Dinosaur Excavation Kit. It is basically a solid piece of rock (about the size of a plate) and it comes with tools as well. They can chip away at the rock, looking for dinosaur bones. When they get all the bones out, they can brush them off/wash them off just like a real archaeologist and put together the dinosaur. The company I work for sells them in a couple of different dinosaur versions. There is also a pirate chest you can excavate and a mummy. They are very realistic and all my boys have loooooved doing them. They asked for them again this year for Christmas even though they've done them before! :) Let me know if you want to know more info about price, how to order them, etc!

dino kit
My friend bought one of these dino excavation kits for him when he was 5 or 6 for a bday from Target and he really liked it!
Does your son have any of the Moonsand? That is really fun and not too messy compared to real sand. My son still likes it and he is 7!
Ideas
I don't have little boys, but I have a nephew who is your son's age. His Christmas list consists of anything Spiderman. I got him a few things that are Spiderman, but I am also going to go to Imagine That on Main St and see if they have anything that he might like. They have a lot of the wood toys, puzzles and games that last a while. It might be somewhere to look for a few more ideas. He also loves anything that makes noise. Maybe getting him one of the hand held Leapster game sets would be a "cool" gift for him. I know my nephew loves his even though it's a hand me down toy.
He got the v smile pocket
He got the v smile pocket for his birthday and he has a TON of wooden puzzles...its really not all me spoiling him either I get a lot of help from all the grandparents.
I swear I looked at everything on Toysrus.com over an dover again trying to see something that he might like. I was going to get him the GEO trax but my husband say 'he doesnt need two train tracks'

toys
Well I don't know how you feel about guns in your house but it's always been a big hit when I buy 2 nerf guns one for my son and one for his dad they have a blast with it all the time. Since your getting a wii they have really good games for that you can always get.
hmmm...
Art easel and dry erase markers/chalk?
Legos, especially Bionicles?
K'nex?
Spy Gear stuff.. Target has some "cool" stuff?
Science experiment activities?...check out United Arts & Education.
He does have an Art Easel
He does have an Art Easel and my mom is getting him K'nex for christmas. She is also getting two marshmellow shotters one for him and one for dad to play with. I did see those science experiments that I think he would like to do this winter when he can go outside.
Thanks everyone for all the good ideas.

voice changer helmets
They have voice changer helmets for Power Rangers, Transformers, and Star Wars. The Power Ranger one downloads "missions" to it. My nephew(4) got one for his b-day and my son(6) has been asking for one ever since. They are a bit pricy (considering half the things I buy get played with once)but the Power Ranger one is half off at Toys R Us on black friday.
how about a fish (beta) or
how about a fish (beta) or trurarium (sp) it holds frogs? my son loved both of these and they can stay in his room. teaches responsibility and they are cheap, plus its like having a campanion.
snow
Is he into winter sports? Maybe a snowboard or "cool" sled?
We got MarioKart game and racing wheel for the Wii. Luke loves anything race cars, and the game is supposed to be great!
Luke is almost 4 1/2, he's getting a couple of movies, some PlayDoh activity center (really into play doh right now, but this has all the tools and gadgets so I don't have to drag out all my kitchen utensils), a Hot Wheels Super Loop track of some kind, some new board games, and we are also debating on a cheapy $25 MP3 player. He's so into music right now, and he loves getting on the computer with daddy and downloading new workout music. I also want to stop at United Arts & Education and get some new finger paints and art supplies.
Also something that was a GREAT investment was the Little Tikes bouncer. It wasn't cheap, but the grandparents bought it for Luke for something to get the energy out during long winters. You definitley need to have the space for it because it is big, but for us it was worth it. Even Shawn is almost big enough to climb in it on his own, but he loves to jump around in it.
