so as summer starts to come to an end i cant help but think about the holidays. i have always been an early shopper and have fun on the hunt.
i am expecting my second child the end of october so i can imagine shopping could be even harder. what i was wondering is if any one had good gift ideas for a 2 year old. my son turns 2 in january and i can always find fun things but i thought some of you with experience may know what a 2 year old really likes.
thanks for any suggestions! my son thanks you too!

All three of my kids loved
All three of my kids loved the little push around lawnmower. some made bubbles and one didn't. They played in the house all winter then went right outside when the weather turned. And, don't get me started on the fab pictures pushing beside dad. oh, baby! Lynn
Catalogs
I've been shopping in the catalogs LTD Commodities and Lakeside collection (pretty much the same). They have lots of kids stuff and the prices are pretty good! I've also been keeping an eye on clearance at the stores such as TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Target, Kohls, The Disney Store, and Toys R Us and have been lucky to find some really good deals!! My thing is just being tough and being able to hold onto it until Christmas, I usually want to break down and give away :)
As far as what to get...is your son into any special characters?? Or how about books? Or movies?
2 year old
My son loves cars, trains and trucks...we gave him a train table....and he thought it was the best gift ever. However,I highly suggest screwing down the tracks so that he does not disassemble it!My son is now 4 and still loves his train table. They are a bit expensive but if you stay away from the name brand sets they aren't so bad.He also loved the ball pits..we had one shaped like a monster truck.Hope this helps some?
tables
Oh yeh, good idea! For my nephew's 3rd birthday he got a "car/train" table. One side of it had roads and hills for him to drive his cars on and then you could flip it over and the other side was like a big desk, which is nice when he outgrows his cars, he can have a table to draw on or play on. I'm not sure what brand it was, I want to say little tykes b/c it had the "plastic legs" and I want to say it was about 75.00
Can't go wrong with trucks, trains, balls or blocks &crafts too!
My 2 year old son loves to get his toy bulldozer out and push around and scoop up his blocks and other toys. He also likes any type of ball...He got a little b-ball hoop that can be used inside and out which he AND his daddy enjoy! A great homemade game for that age is Racket Play, which my 8 & 5 year old still love to play. Take a paint stirrer, tape a plastic or heavier duty paper plate to one end to make the racket, make another one for you, blow up a balloon and let the fun begin hitting the balloon back and forth. Blocks are always good too...All 3 of my kids love to build with blocks. They especially love the big cardboard ones, that look like bricks.
2 years is also a great time to begin simple arts and crafts too. My son is really into drawing with a pencil in his own "school" composition book, he loves to glue macaroni, cherrios, puff balls, or paper scraps to paper plates, paper, etc..and he loves to fingerpaint.
If you need anymore ideas PM me...Good luck!
