Chicken pox??
We noticed a bunch of bumps all over Luke's (he's almost 5) chest and back this morning. Later in the day we noticed them pretty much all over his body. We haven't really noticed them being worse or more since this afternoon. Most of them are raised red bumps, with a white center (almost like a pimple). He said they hurt when you touch them (but who really knows?), and he pointed out a couple that he said itched (they were the biggest ones on his body though). He was vaccinated in 2005 for chicken pox, but I know they can still get them in a milder form. No new soaps, detergents, clothes, medicines, etc that I can think of that would cause a rash. Has anyone else's kids gotten chicken pox after being vaccinated? Any other ideas of what it could be??

heat rash?

Could it be heat rash? My daughter had red bumps all over the back of her neck last week from the heat.
Also, could be bug bites Just a couple thoughts.

Could he be getting sick? That happened to my oldest son when he got strep throat; they called it strep rash.

Both of my kids have been dealing with this for the last few days. I have tried Benadryl cream and 2.5% hydrocordizone cream, neither worked. I finally called the Doctor's office and are taking them in later today. I will let you know what I find out. They started on my son, and one of his nipples is really red and inflammed from them. On my kids they mainly cover the torso area but I have only seen a few on any limbs.

Thanks, we are also heading to the doctor this afternoon. He woke up today and the spots are much more "inflamed" and blister-like looking, but doesn't look like any more have popped up. Most of Luke's are on his belly, back, shoulders, butt and thighs, but he does have a few on his neck, arms and lower legs. He says he feels fine, no fever, so who knows. They really look like chicken pox (compared to pics I've looked at online). I'll post an update this afternoon.

So I took the kids to the dr and she thinks it is a staph infection. At this point she wants us to try an antibodotic cream and dial soap. Of course she had to tell me she doesn't think I need to worry about MRSA right now, I love when they worry us like that!!!!
Aww..

It could possibly be the 5ths virus...my son Isaac who will be 5 in less than a week yayyay... well he had all the same symptoms you are describing...with Isaac it was body soreness, weak, low grade fever (only sometimes) ... and chicken pox looking like bumps...So we went into the Pediatrician and it turned out it was 5ths virus...Trust me it looks soooo much like chicken pox its crazy....Good Luck ladies I hope the little ones start feeling better and keep an update posted...

Yep, it's chicken pox. Looks like an itchy 4th of July weekend at home for us! Also takes care of the last 4 days of swim lessons! Ugh, hopefully since he (and Shawn) have been immunized that it won't be all that bad. I remember as a kid having chicken pox SO bad for a couple of weeks....terrible fever, constant itching and it felt like it went on forever. So anyway, just wanted to post an update. Thanks for all your responses!

I remember the nurse I worked with had once said that you could get the chicken pox after being immunized but that it's usually not as bad as it would have been if you didn't get the imm. Hopefully he'll recover fast!!

I am pretty sure that there were two rounds of chicken pox vaccinations and the second wasn't until my son was getting his kindergarten physical. So that could be why Luke picked up the virus since he is getting close to that age where he would get the second booster shot. Did Dr. Kramer say if he has seen other cases going around?
