I really hate that my son's favorite is Lucky Charms!  I know, I should just stop buying it, right?  But how do I stop buying it when he grabs a box off the shelf, puts it back, takes the box of "Magic Stars" (generic) next to it and says "let's get this one, it's on sale today."  My husband loves cereal, mostly sugar-y cereal, so it's always in the house.  I do my best to get him to eat oatmeal or Rice Krispies instead, but he usually asks for the Fruit Loops or the Trix.

What kinds of breakfast cereals do your kids eat?

Hmm...I just had a thought...maybe I should tell him he has to eat Cheerios or something healthy first, then he can have a small bowl of junk cereal if he's still hungry.  He eats like a bird, so chances are he won't even be hungry anymore!

cereal

haha- when my son wants something he will ask mom is this on sale....can I get it...haha

My son just eats the marshmellows out of the lucky charms. He doesnt really care for cereal. At least not in milk. He will eat dry cereal and drink milk...i know weird. But he always says he wants cereal but he doesnt eat it. He eats cereal bars (the fruit bar things), oatmeal, and pop tarts during the week, and then I normally cook on the weekends.

marshmallows

Luke used to pick out all of the marshmallows too, then ask for more cereal.  He quickly learned he wasn't getting seconds unless he actually ate the CEREAL! We do NutriGrain bars also, and he loves waffles!

Dry only

Bekka will only eat cereal if it's dry. Same thing she'll drink pediasure but not with the cereal. (She has to drink Pediasure) She will eat the bars, oatmeal, malt o meal and even grits, eggs and all the other typical breakfast food but she's not much of an early morning eater. She eats better if she's been up for a couple hours.

Cereal

The only cereal I get in what W.I.C. gives me my daughter doesn't think cereal is real food anyway.

Breakfast

Our daughter is not a big milk drinker, so she would prefer to eat the cereal dry but I usually get her to have it with milk anyway. Everyone in the house loves the sugary cereals, of course, but the kids actually like some of the healthy stuff, too. I can usually get them to want Raisin Bran without trouble(most of the time our oldest will ask for it), and they love it when I make granola, which is just sweet enough for them but still quite healthy. Other than that, we'll get frosted shredded wheat and my other favorite for them is Clifford Crunch(very low sugar and calories, and has 5g of fiber per serving, but tastes like Lucky Charms without the marshmallows). My personal favorite for myself is either oatmeal with raisins and flaxseeds or flaxseed meal or homemade granola.
