Anyone know of any here local? I looked online and theres 1 place but it looks like a entertainment thing. My Mom and I thought it would be fun to take classes! My Mom seen it on tv that it would be a great workout and well I am going for working out and fun :) Anyone know?

South Bend Parks & Recreation offers them

There is both a beginner and intermediate class through SB Parks. It is called Middle Eastern Dance, but from what I have heard it is the same as belly dancing. It is pretty reasonably priced to give it a try. Here is the info. http://www.sbpark.org/documents/fall_2008.pdf

Ruby Jazayre - teacher

I've taken classes from Ruby in the past and it's alot of fun. She teaches at the Battel Center, IUSB and for SB Parks. She has a website. Classes at the Battel Center are cheap, that's where I went and I'm going to start up next session which is in January. She also has a troupe that performs locally and she sponsors dancers from all over the conuntry and they have performances at the Battel Center and workshops a couple times a year. You can order hip belts on ebay for a good price. And yes the Middle Eastern Dance is Belly dancing they also call it Oriental. I know at one point in time they had classes at Memorial Lifestyle center with Ruby too.

My sister dances at the

My sister dances at the Battell center with Ruby. She has been dancing there for a few years now and absolutely loves it. She's acutally part of the group that goes out and dances at different events in the area. She's tried to get me to come along, but I just don't seem to have the time. I think it would be a lot of fun though! Good Luck!
